Gordon's work is characterized by pop‑savvy hooks embedded in a heavier alternative rock framework. As a co‑leader of Veruca Salt she shared lead vocals and co‑wrote many of the band's songs, helping craft harmonies and a textured guitar sound that blended power‑pop melody with guitar‑driven indie rock. The band's early success centered on radio‑friendly singles and an energetic live reputation.
Solo work and reunion
Following her departure from Veruca Salt in 1998, Gordon turned to a solo career that emphasized a more intimate, singer‑songwriter approach while retaining her melodic sensibility. Her solo releases include the early 2000s debut Tonight and the Rest of My Life (2000) and the follow‑up Bleeding Heart Graffiti (2006). In 2013 she reunited with the original Veruca Salt lineup; that reunion led to new recordings and touring, and the group released material reflecting on their history and creative reconciliation.
