Tore André Flo

Tore André Flo (born 15 June 1973 in Stryn, Norway) is a Norwegian former football player.

Flo started his career at his hometown club in Stryn in amateur level. In 1993 he moved to Sogndal IL, where he played together with his brothers Jostein and Jarle Flo and his cousin Håvard Flo. When Sogndal were relegated from the Tippeligaen, Tore Andre Flo moved to Tromsø IL.

In Tromsø Flo spent a very successful time, as he became the top scorer of the 1st Norwegian League in 1995 with 18 goals. Due to his good performances, he was called up to the Norwegian national football team for the first time in the same year and made his debut in a match against England.

Flo then moved to league rivals Brann Bergen in January 1996, where he scored 28 goals. During this time, Flo matured into one of his country's best strikers and also became a fixture in the national team. He was nicknamed "Flonaldo" in reference to Brazilian international Ronaldo. Norway's 4-2 win over Brazil in a friendly was particularly impressive.

In January 1998, Flo moved to Chelsea FC in England for the relatively meagre transfer fee of £300,000. There he won over many sceptics and scored 50 goals in 163 competitive games for the London club. Under coaches Gianluca Vialli and Claudio Ranieri, he increasingly found himself on the bench, prompting a move to Scotland's top flight. In 2000, he moved to Glasgow Rangers for twelve million pounds, making him the most expensive Norwegian player to date. In Glasgow, he scored in his first game against city rivals Celtic Glasgow, which Rangers won 5-1, but rarely impressed thereafter. Flo then moved to AFC Sunderland, where he scored in his first game, but left after one season following the club's relegation.

In 2003, he signed a two-year contract with AC Siena, for whom he scored twelve goals in 63 league games. In 2004 he ended his active career with the Norwegian national team, for whom he scored 23 goals in 76 games between 1995 and 2004. As his family did not like the southern European climate, he decided to move back home to Norway to Vålerenga IF in 2005.

He then moved to Leeds United in January 2007. His salary at Leeds United took over the band Kaiser Chiefs. In March 2008 he ended his professional career.

On 21 November 2008, Milton Keynes Dons announced the signing of Flo. The transfer was arranged by Milton Keynes manager Roberto Di Matteo, who played with Flo at Chelsea. After the 2008/09 season, his contract with MK Dons was terminated early after he failed to score in 13 games.
