Origins and development

The team was established under manager Hans‑Michael Holczer with sports directors including Rolf Gölz and Christian Henn. A sequence of sporting steps and higher-profile signings — most notably the Austrian climber Georg Totschnig — helped the squad reach Division I shortly after 2000 and gain invitations to major races.
