Geography and climate

Situated at about 1,879 metres above sea level on the slopes of the Al-Sarawat Mountains, Ta'if enjoys cooler and more temperate conditions than lowland cities. This elevation supports horticulture uncommon elsewhere in the kingdom and has made Ta'if a seasonal retreat: the national government traditionally relocates portions of its activity from Riyadh to Ta'if during the hottest months.
