History and founding

The SkyTeam passenger alliance was formed in 2000, and its cargo counterpart was announced shortly afterward to leverage the same cooperative benefits for freight traffic. Initial founding cargo members included Aeroméxico Cargo—one of the early participants represented here as Aeroméxico Cargo—Air France Cargo, Delta Air Logistics and Korean Air Cargo, with Delta Air Logistics representing Delta’s dedicated freight unit. The cargo alliance expanded as more SkyTeam carriers joined or deepened operational ties.

Members, network and reach

SkyTeam Cargo's membership is composed of the cargo divisions of SkyTeam airlines; as such its network footprint mirrors the passenger alliance's geographic breadth. That arrangement gives shippers access to coordinated routings across continents without negotiating separately with each carrier. Members often maintain their own pricing and capacity control while offering interline options within the alliance.

SkyTeam Cargo is recognized as one of the largest airline cargo alliances, providing scale and simplified connectivity for international freight movement. It competes with other cooperative freight groupings, such as the WOW Alliance, and with standalone integrators and freight forwarders that offer global logistics solutions.
