Geography and landscape

The coastline, part of the Riviera Romagnola, runs for roughly 30 km of sandy beaches along the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Behind the shore the landscape becomes wooded and hilly, with rivers such as the Marecchia and Conca carving valleys inland. The province borders Forlì‑Cesena to the north, the Marche region to the south and lies close to the independent republic of San Marino, influencing cross‑border commerce and travel.
