Mayor
Since February 7, 2019, Oebele Brouwer (non-party) is the acting mayor of the municipality. His collegium includes the aldermen Jouke Spoelstra (CDA), Max de Haan (Gemeentebelangen Achtkarspelen), Margreet Jonker (ChristenUnie), Harjan Bruining (CDA) and the municipal secretary Jaap Wijma.
