Geography and environment

Millau lies in a dramatic karst landscape of limestone plateaux and deep gorges. The town stands close to the Tarn river and beneath the high plateaux known as the Grands Causses. Much of the municipal territory falls within the Parc naturel régional des Grands Causses, an area recognised for its biodiversity, traditional pastoralism and distinctive limestone scenery. History
