Geography and climate

The county lies on the Marvdasht plain at the northern edge of the Zagros foothills. Soils and irrigation make parts of the plain among the most productive in Fars; the Dorudzan reservoir and associated waterworks support year‑round cropping. The climate is generally semi‑arid: hot summers and cooler, wetter winters at higher elevations. Upland areas near the Zagros have more seasonal rainfall and pastoral uses.
