Chungará Lake

Lago Chungará is one of the highest lakes in the world.
The cobalt blue Lago Chungará is located 59 km east of the small town of Putre in Chile in the Región de Arica y Parinacota, Arica province. Nearby are six large volcanoes, such as Pomerape and Parinacota, which are over 6200 m high. The lake is part of the Lauca National Park.
Wildlife: Flamingos, vicuñas, alpacas, Andean condors and viscachas
The Chilean supervisory authority for the national parks, CONAF, has created a walking trail around the lake. The area is quite popular with mountain bikers.
