Konya is a city in Turkey. The city is in the Central Anatolia Region. There was 2,079,225 people living there in 2013.

Geography
The city is located about 200 kilometers south of the capital Ankara in the Konya Plain (Turkish Konya Ovası) at about 1200 meters above sea level, almost in the geographical center of Anatolia. The plateau has no outlet to the sea, only local rivers that flow into inland lakes. In the surrounding area it is overlooked by several mountains rising to 2300 meters, the northern continuation of the Taurus Mountains. To the west lies the Altınapa Dam.
