Guillermo Mordillo (4 August 1932 – 29 June 2019), usually credited simply as Mordillo, was an Argentine cartoonist and animator noted for his long-legged characters, visual gags and largely wordless humour. He was born in Buenos Aires and became one of the best-known cartoonists internationally during the 1970s.

Work and style
Mordillo produced thousands of single-panel cartoons that were widely syndicated and reproduced in books, magazines and on greeting cards. His work relied on exaggerated body language and simple situations rather than dialogue, which helped it cross language barriers. He also designed commercial greeting cards for Hallmark Cards.
Animation adaptations
Between 1976 and 1981 the Slovenian artist Slovenian cartoonist and animator Miki Muster adapted Mordillo's drawings into a sequence of short animated films released under the title Mordillo. The project comprised around 400 brief animated segments. These films were screened at festivals such as Cannes and were licensed to television broadcasters in about thirty countries.
Later life and legacy
Mordillo spent his later years in the Balearic Islands. He died in late June 2019 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, aged 86. His work remains influential for its visual inventiveness and capacity to convey humour without words.
