Overview

Giro Manoyan (Armenian: Կիրո Մանոյան), also rendered Kiro Manoyan, is an Armenian political activist and senior figure in the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. Widely associated with the party's international work, he has been a prominent voice for Armenian national causes and diaspora–homeland relations throughout his career. He is often described as an Armenian politician and public advocate.

Education and early activity

Manoyan completed his studies at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, where he became involved with community organizing and Armenian civic life. During the 1980s he served as Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Canada, engaging in public outreach, community coordination and advocacy on issues of concern to the Armenian diaspora.

Journalism and publishing

From 1989 until 1999 Manoyan was the editor of the Horizon Weekly, an Armenian-language weekly newspaper that served diaspora readers with news, commentary and cultural content. His decade of editorial work strengthened his profile as a communicator and provided a platform on Armenian political, historical and social topics.

Roles within the ARF and in Yerevan

Since 2000 he has held the post of Director of the International Secretariat of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau based in Yerevan. In this capacity he has coordinated the party's contacts with diaspora organizations, represented ARF positions abroad, and overseen aspects of political outreach and organizational relations between the homeland and Armenian communities worldwide.

Significance and activities

Manoyan's work centers on advocacy for Armenian national issues, diaspora engagement and public diplomacy. He has participated in conferences, given interviews and delivered statements on topics such as historical memory, community organization and international relations. Through his ARF role he helps shape messaging and strategy aimed at strengthening ties between Armenians in the Republic of Armenia and those in the diaspora.
