Flag of Belize

The flag of Belize was adopted on September 21, 1981. On that day, Great Britain released its colony of British Honduras into independence. In the centre of the flag is the coat of arms of Belize.

The flag shows great continuity with an unofficial flag designed for British Honduras in 1950. Only the two red stripes at the top and bottom were added with Belize's independence.
