Geography and administration

The territory occupies a compact, largely urbanised area in Luxembourg’s south-western quarter. History and development

This part of Luxembourg was transformed during the 19th and 20th centuries by iron ore mining and steelmaking in the so-called "Red Lands" (Terres Rouges). The decline of heavy industry in the late 20th century led to major regeneration projects.
