Dronten

Dronten ( ) is a municipality on Lake Veluwe and Ketelmeer in the east of the Dutch province of Flevoland. About 20 km west of Dronten is the provincial capital Lelystad, about 15 km east is the town of Kampen and about 14 km southeast is the town of Elburg.
The municipality was newly established in 1972 and had a population of 42,017 on 1 January 2021, according to CBS data. It has an area of 424 km², of which almost 334 km² is land area, which is mainly used for agriculture. In addition to the town of Dronten itself, the municipality of Dronten also includes the two villages of Biddinghuizen and Swifterbant.
Due to its location on Lake Veluwe, Dronten is a popular tourist destination, which is why there are many camping and recreational facilities here. This includes the Walibi Holland amusement park in Biddinghuizen.
A very distinctive building in the city is the culture and exhibition hall De Meerpaal.
Coat of arms
Description: In the coat of arms divided by blue and gold with wave cut above a silver lily and below three red intertwined rings. The larger middle ring is covered by a black short pole (bollard) with a silver cap. A golden crown rests on the escutcheon held by two rising black stallions.
