Geography and communities

Bass spans an area of roughly 7,378 km² and includes parts of Launceston’s northern and eastern suburbs as well as surrounding towns and islands. Major localities within the division include Bell Bay, George Town, Bridport, Scottsdale, Ringarooma, Lilydale, Hadspen and Flinders Island. The electorate was named for George Bass, who explored the strait that separates Tasmania from mainland Australia.
