Charles "Charlie, Moose" Cahill (January 4, 1904 – June 5, 1954) was a Canadian-born professional ice hockey forward who played as a right winger. Born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Cahill is best known for his appearance in the top level of the sport when he spent one season in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins.
Early life
Cahill grew up on Prince Edward Island and developed his skills in local hockey circles. His upbringing in Summerside contributed to his reputation as a robust and determined player, earning him the nicknames "Charlie" and "Moose" during his playing days. As a native of Canada, he came from a country with a strong ice hockey tradition and pathway to organized competition (Canadian, ice hockey).
Playing career
Cahill was a right winger who reached the NHL for a single season, appearing with the Boston Bruins. That season represents the highest level he achieved in professional hockey, competing against the era's leading players in the National Hockey League. Contemporary records note his participation in that campaign, but detailed statistics from his other seasons are less widely documented.
Later life and legacy
After his time in the NHL, Cahill's later activities and post-hockey career are not extensively recorded in major sources, which is common for players of his generation. He died on June 5, 1954. Cahill remains a figure of interest to collectors and historians who study early 20th-century ice hockey and the contributions of players from smaller Canadian communities such as Summerside.
