Appearance

Catahoulas are typically medium- to large-framed, muscular and agile. Their short, dense coat resists the elements and appears in a wide range of patterns and colors, including various forms of merle, mottled and solid patches. One of the breed’s most noted features is the eyes: solid colors, blue, amber and combinations (partial or complete heterochromia) occur frequently and contribute to the Catahoula’s distinctive look.
