Zekes — Swedish dansband from Skara

Shortly after forming, Zekes took part in the televised competition Dansbandskampen in 2009 and reached the final, a notable achievement for a recently established band. Exposure from the program helped them secure gigs and media coverage. On 27 December 2009 their recording of "I ett fönster" entered the Swedish radio chart Svensktoppen, giving them broader recognition beyond regional dance venues.

The band toured regionally and performed at a number of summer festivals and dance halls. Typical of outfits in this genre, their live line-up would have focused on clear lead vocals, harmony singing and danceable rhythms, supported by guitars, keyboards, bass and drums, sometimes with additional instruments such as saxophone or accordion.

In June 2012 local radio reported that Zekes would disband after completing their planned summer tour. Their final appearance took place in August 2012 at the food and cultural event Matfestivalen in Skövde. The farewell follow-through is common among contemporary dansbands that form quickly, gain momentum and then pause or end as members pursue other projects.

Although their active period was brief, Zekes illustrates how televised competitions and popular radio lists can accelerate a band's visibility in Sweden's dance-music scene. Their path—from formation to national TV exposure and a Svensktoppen entry—reflects a typical trajectory for modern dansbands seeking both local audiences and wider attention.
