Brian Porter Kemp (born November 2, 1963) is an American politician and businessman. He has been the 83rd Governor of Georgia since 2019.

Kemp was born in Athens, Georgia to a family that had been in politics for a long time. Some of his ancestors owned plantations with many slaves. He studied at University of Georgia.

As a member of the Republican Party he was a state senator from 2003 to 2007, then became the 27th Secretary of State of Georgia from January 2010 to November 2018.

Kemp was the Republican nominee in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election. He defeated Stacey Abrams in the general election in November 2018, but the election was controversial and many newspapers reported that he cheated.
