Thomas J. Vilsack (born December 13, 1950) is an American public official who has held prominent roles in state and federal government, most notably as United States Secretary of Agriculture and as Governor of Iowa. He led the Department of Agriculture under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017 and was nominated again by President Joe Biden to return to that post in 2021. The department he heads is commonly abbreviated as the United States Department of Agriculture, often shortened to USDA.

Vilsack was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later moved to the Midwest as a young adult.
