Timothy Donald Cook (born November 1, 1960) is an American business executive best known as the chief executive officer of Apple Inc.. He joined the company in 1998 and was named CEO on August 24, 2011 after the resignation of Steve Jobs. Cook has led Apple through a period of product expansion and organizational change while becoming a prominent spokesperson on issues such as privacy and corporate responsibility. Jobs died on October 5, 2011 from pancreatic cancer.
