Terry Meeuwsen (born March 2, 1949) is an American television presenter, author and singer best known for her long association with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Early life and pageant career
Meeuwsen was born in De Pere, Wisconsin. In 1972 she won local and statewide pageants, taking the titles of Miss Appleton and Miss Wisconsin. She went on to be crowned Miss America 1973, becoming the first woman from Wisconsin to win that honor. At the national competition she placed first in the talent portion and also won the swimsuit segment.
Broadcasting work in Milwaukee
Following her year as Miss America, Meeuwsen moved into television. In 1978 she joined WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, where she co-hosted a daily news and features program, A New Day, alongside Pete Wilson. She remained on that show for nearly eight years before leaving the station in 1986.
Career at the Christian Broadcasting Network
After leaving local television Meeuwsen accepted a position with the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She made scattered appearances as a guest host in the late 1980s and early 1990s and was later appointed a permanent co-host of CBN’s flagship program, the 700 Club. During her time at CBN she frequently appeared alongside founder Pat Robertson. From 2000 she also co-hosted the CBN series Living the Life. Both the 700 Club and Living the Life have been carried on various cable channels, including Freeform, at different times.
Work outside television
In addition to her on-air roles, Meeuwsen has pursued projects as an author and as a vocalist. Her career has combined television presentation with public speaking and occasional musical performances.
