Tatsuya Tanaka (田中 達也, born 27 November 1982) is a Japanese professional football player who has competed in Japan’s top domestic competitions and has been selected for the Japan national team. He is known principally for his role as an attacking player and for contributions at club level in the J.League system.
Overview
Tanaka developed through youth and professional ranks to become a forward used by several clubs in Japan’s professional leagues. As a domestic professional he combined attacking duties with work on and off the ball, filling roles typical of centre-forwards and secondary strikers.
Career and characteristics
During his professional career Tanaka spent the bulk of his time in Japan, appearing regularly in league and cup competitions. Players in his position are generally valued for movement, finishing and linking play—qualities observers highlight when describing forwards who represent club and country.
International involvement
Tanaka has been capped by the Japan national side. International selection reflects a recognition of form and fitness at club level, and opportunities with the national team can include friendlies, qualifiers and regional tournaments depending on squad needs.
Legacy and distinctions
While detailed season-by-season statistics and honours vary by source, Tanaka’s career is an example of a domestic professional who reached the international level. Note that Tatsuya Tanaka is a name shared by other Japanese figures—most prominently a visual artist known for miniature scenes—so care is needed when consulting records or media references.
