Priscilla Renea (born September 14, 1988, in Vero Beach, Florida) is an American singer-songwriter who has worked both as a recording artist and as a behind-the-scenes writer for other performers. Early in her career she recorded under her given name and later adopted the stage name Muni Long when returning to focus on her solo material and performance.
Early recordings and debut
Renea released the single "Dollhouse" in August 2009 and followed with her debut album, Jukebox, later that year. Critics generally gave Jukebox favorable reviews for its songwriting and vocal performances, though commercial sales were modest—reports at the time indicated only a few thousand copies sold in the U.S. and worldwide. The album established her as an emotive voice in contemporary pop and soul.
Songwriting and industry work
After her initial run as a solo artist, Renea expanded into professional songwriting, composing material for a broad range of artists across pop, R&B and other contemporary genres. Her work as a writer and collaborator raised her profile within the music industry and demonstrated an ability to adapt her craft to different performers and styles.
Reinvention as Muni Long
In the later phase of her career she rebranded as Muni Long and returned to releasing music under that name. That body of work reached a wider audience through streaming platforms and social media, bringing renewed attention to her abilities both as a vocalist and as a songwriter. This period highlighted her resilience and capacity to reinvent herself artistically.
Musical style and significance
Renea’s music blends elements of pop, soul and contemporary R&B. Her songwriting is often noted for direct, personal lyrics and catchy melodic hooks; as both performer and writer she emphasizes emotional clarity and narrative in her songs. Her career illustrates two common paths in contemporary music: the dual roles of performer and professional songwriter, and the power of reinvention in a changing industry.
