Overview
Bolshevylskoye Rural Settlement is an administrative and municipal unit in the central part of Alikovsky District. The settlement is officially named in Russian as Большевыльское сельское поселение and in Chuvash as Мăн Вылă ял тăрăхĕ. It lies within the Chuvash Republic, a federal subject of the Russian Federation (Chuvash Republic).
Administrative structure and localities
The rural settlement functions as a municipal formation inside Alikovsky District. Its administrative centre is the village of Bolshaya Vyla. In municipal registers Bolshevylskoye comprises three rural localities in total. Local administration is responsible for communal services, local planning and implementation of district-level policies.
Population, economy and language
Available estimates indicate a small population typical of many rural municipal formations in the region (the settlement's population was reported as about 1,279 in 2006). Residents generally speak Russian and Chuvash; the Chuvash language and cultural traditions are part of everyday life. Economic activity is primarily rural in character, with agriculture, animal husbandry and small-scale trade forming the backbone of the local economy, supplemented by services that support village life.
Transport and infrastructure
A notable transport link is the Cheboksary–Yadrin highway, which crosses the territory of the settlement and connects it to larger towns and to the regional capital. This road provides access for goods and commuters and is an important factor in local mobility and economic ties to nearby markets.
History, culture and notable facts
The settlement takes its name from its principal village, Bolshaya Vyla; place-names in the area reflect both Russian and Chuvash linguistic traditions. Like many communities in the Chuvash Republic, Bolshevylskoye preserves rural cultural practices, including regional crafts, folk music and seasonal festivals. Its small size and agricultural focus are representative of the district's countryside settlements.
