Death and aftermath

The flight, which carried several passengers including the pilot, issued a distress communication as it encountered difficulty; reports noted the pilot sent a distress call requesting an emergency landing to Masbate airport. The aircraft went down before reaching shore while Robredo was en route to a political event in his home city. The pilot and passengers were involved in the incident; local authorities and investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the actions of the pilot. Robredo's body was recovered three days later, on August 21, in the waters near the crash site, according to official accounts documenting the retrieval.
