The Adour rises in the central Pyrenees, near the Arbizon mountain, and flows across two administrative regions, Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Along its course it passes near towns such as Tarbes and Dax and reaches the sea close to Bayonne. The river discharges into the Atlantic Ocean, within the larger Bay of Biscay.
