UNAM operates a network of campuses and regional centres across Namibia, enabling students from urban and rural areas to study closer to home. History and development

Established soon after Namibian independence, UNAM was formed to provide a national institution for higher learning and research. Since its founding by parliamentary act in August 1992, the university has expanded its teaching, research and community outreach activities. Growth has reflected the country’s needs for trained professionals in public administration, health, education, commerce, law, science and technology.
