Adler Planetarium
The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum in Chicago, Illinois is one of the city's biggest attractions. Built in 1930 thanks to the support of entrepreneur Max Adler, it is one of the oldest planetariums in North America. It is located directly on Lake Michigan, just behind the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History. Since February 27, 1987, the Adler Planetarium has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark.
It shows on several levels numerous exhibits on the subject of space, planetary system and their historical and current exploration. The collection of historical instruments is world famous. In addition, it has two theatres for astronomical demonstrations, one with a Zeiss projector and one with a modern digital laser show that enables flight simulations in particular. Both systems complement each other perfectly.
